Daimler XJC

Daimler XJC

This is a very rare car, as most of the Coupe XJs were Jaguar versions. It is fitted with the 4.2-litre XK engine and twin carburettors.

This one has been off the road for many years and has suffered terribly during that period, particularly with corrosion and rodent damage.

It is relatively common for a project of this scale to be divided into logical stages to make it more affordable for the Customer. This is one example of such an approach. The car was with us for around three months to address all the mechanical issues, but we left the body corrosion, trim, etc, until a future date.

The engine was badly seized, so it needed to be fully stripped and machined to remove the corrosion. The transmission was partially stripped, checked, cleaned and the filters and fluids were replaced. Much of the wiring had been damaged by rodents, so it needed to be repaired before the car could be powered up and started.

The brakes were reconditioned, and any suspension components that needed changing, such as bushes, were swapped. The fuel tanks and fuel lines had corroded, so we replaced them to ensure a clean fuel supply. The carburettors were stripped, ultrasonically cleaned, polished and then reassembled with new refurbishment parts.

The completed car now starts, runs and drives exceptionally well. It has returned to its owner until the next phase is ready to commence.

We are proud to have rescued this example.
