2000 MINI COOPER
It was never going to take long before a classic Mini joined us at Fostering Classics, as this is one of our all-time favourites. This car is one of the very last ones to ever be produced in mid-2000 before production ceased to make way for the BMW thing. The design changed very little between its introduction in 1959 and the end of the production in 2000. There were some minor design and equipment changes introduced in 1997 to ensure the car met European emissions and safety compliance, such as a drivers airbag, seat belt pre-tensioners, multi-point injection, height adjustable headlamps and front mounted radiator with electric fan.
Finished in Tahiti blue, this MINI Cooper has done 74,600 miles with 2 owners. It has been serviced through its life and has never been modified. It even has its original Mini radio.
Unfortunately, Rover made some cost saving measures to corrosion protection on later Minis, so most, if not all cars suffer from some level of corrosion, this one included. However, the spares supply for this model are vast and all repair panels are available, so a meticulous bodywork restoration has been completed to bring this car back to perfect condition. As well as the corrosion, the car also needed new trim and chrome work, due to dents and scrapes over its life. The MINI Cooper has just passed its MOT and has had a full detailed service. It is supplied with the original owners folder and documents, including service booklet, radio and owners manual. It has both sets of keys, the radio faceplate container and full toolkit.
It has undergone an extensive restoration at Fostering Classics to bring it back to its former glory. In fact, in terms of corrosion protection, it is better than when it left the factory.
The underbody, trim and mechanicals have all been fully addressed to create probably one of the best late classic Minis available. Particular care has been taken to ensure it is completely original. There are no modifications or aftermarket “upgrades”.
