This icon of cars joined us for some bodywork, fabrication and suspension/brake work before the car went off for paint to Germany.

This Porsche 911 originally from the USA, had been widened to the very wide RSR spec with fibrglass arches and Turbo brakes. Our customer wanted to shrink this ultra wide body back to be more subtle, in line with the 1973 RS style car.

We set about removing the rear fibreglass arches and fitting metal RS style arches. The problem being that the RS arches are designed for a long wheelbase car and this is a short wheelbase car. We had to fabricate detailed sections and shrink and stretch the sections to adopt the correct profile for the whole rear quarter panels. A fibreglass RS style rear bumper then needed to be extended to afsin fit the short wheelbase!

Finally the wheel offsets needed to be moved inwards to ensure no tyre contact with the inner wheel arches. This involved reverting the front brakes from the Turbo spec, to an SC spec.

The car had an aftermarket oil cooler fitted to the front valance, which wouldn’t fit behind the required steel bumper, so a new front valance was hand formed to accept the oil cooler and cooling slats were machined into the bumper. Looks quite cool we think.

To finish off, we fitted a race spec fuel tank, with filler in the centre of the bonnet and welded up the original front wing filler.

A great car, which we hope to see again in the future.
